As part of two day consultation meetings for finalization of Pakistan’s New Draft Alternative & Renewable Energy Policy 2019, the second session of consultative meetings with private sector stakeholders and multilateral donor agencies was held at Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) today.

The meeting was attended by private sector representative bodies and entities including World Wind Energy Association, Renewable & Alternative Energy Association of Pakistan, Pakistan Wind Energy Association, Pakistan Solar Association, Solar Quality Foundation, Pakistan Sugar Mills Association, Energy Update Group, USPCAS-E,  leading law firm and consulting firms. The workshop was also attended by multilateral donor agencies including World Bank, IFC, ADB, USAID UNIDO and KfW. 

Participants of the meeting gave their inputs regarding the Draft ARE Policy 2019. The discussions and inputs received during the consultations will enable AEDB to finalize the Draft ARE Policy 2019 for its approval from the competent forum.

Final round of two days consultations on finalization of Pakistan’s New Draft ARE Policy 2019 started today at Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB). In its first session today consultation among Key Stakeholders from public sector including Power Division, NEPRA, PPIB, NTDC, CPPA, NEECA, Pakistan Engineering Council, Energy Department Government of Sindh, PPDB, PEDO, Rep from PM Monitoring Cell and DISCOs were held.

Chairman, Prime Minister’s Task Force on Energy Mr. Nadeem Babar and Secretary Power Division, Mr.  Irfan Ali Co-chaired today’s session. Chief Executive Officer, AEDB Dr. Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan moderated the discussion on the draft ARE Policy 2019.

 We have reached another milestone promting efficiencies and information techonolgy tools in implementing net metering in Pakistan when NEPRA approved the online Net Metering  processing portal. This will allow processing all net meteringapplication by the consumers online, making the systems more efficient and transparent. We have reached to this milestone due to efforts and support by Step Robotics, DISCOs, NEPRA, PITC, PEPCO, certified vendors and winning team of AEDB lead by CEO AEDB. This is advent of new era in net metering in Pakistan that would open up plenty of opportunities and making net metering a big success.
