BY PRESIDENT OF ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN
I am happy with the way
the Board has stood up to the daunting task of implementing
Alternative Energy projects, hitherto unheard of in Pakistan,
in the right way and has justified the confidence placed
in the organization through its progress in a short span
of time. |
The Government is committed to raise
the living standard of the country’s population
by working towards achieving the Millennium Development
Goals (MDGs). This cannot be achieved without ensuring
provision of electricity to the masses inhabiting under-developed
areas of the country. The Government has taken the initiative
by mapping out a comprehensive plan for rural electrification,
and the Alternative Energy Development Board has been
tasked to electrify the remote, off-grid villages of the
country. I am confident that through their dedicated efforts,
AEDB would bring the gift of electricity to those parts
of population which cannot be supplied electricity through
conventional means.
I congratulate Chairman
AEDB and his team with the hope that AEDB would continue
to play a very vital role in enabling Pakistan to achieve
Energy Security by utilizing the abundantly available indigenous
Alternative Energy Resources.

MESSAGE
BY THE CEO ALTERNATIVE ENERGY DEVELOPMENT BOARD
Pakistan is at a stage
where Alternative Energy has become an attractive option
to not only produce electricity to bridge the power-deficit
on the National Grid, but also to provide electricity to
remote, |
off-grid
rural areas. Provision of electricity to such areas would
generate economic activity, which in turn, would create
Employment Opportunities, Poverty Alleviation and improvement
in health and social uplift; meaning Alternative Renewable
Energy can effectively play its part in achieving the Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs) as well. In addition, 700 MW of
Wind Energy would be made available to the National Grid
by the year 2010 which would certainly help in meeting the
current Energy Shortfall in Pakistan.
Today, Pakistan is facing
an Energy Crisis, and every crisis is an opportunity to
rise to glory and honor by accepting the challenges it entails.
Rising to this challenge and depending on indigenous alternative
energy resources is the need of the hour. Alternative Energy
Development Board has accepted this challenge and would
continue to strive to realize the vision of the honorable
President and Prime Minister by fully utilizing the Alternative
Energy Resources available in the country. |
